Responsibilities

  1. Appropriate personal hygiene must be maintained at all times being neatly groomed and dressed.
  2. Sets up station according to Garcia’s guidelines and standards.
  3. Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  4. Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation set by Garcia’s Kitchen.
  5. Maintains appropriate portion control and consistently monitors food levels on the line.
  6. Restocks all items as needed throughout the shift.
  7. Cleans and maintains station while practicing exceptional safety, sanitation, and organizational skills.
  8. Has understanding and knowledge of how to properly use and maintain all equipment in the kitchen.
  9. Assists with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  10. Adheres to proper storage and hierarchy of food.
  11. Maintains personal health and sanitation standards.
  12. Knows to keep track of and report all food that is wasted.
  13. Must handle and rotate al food products properly.
  14. Ability to demonstrate a complete understanding of Garcia’s menu.
  15. Ability to be cross-trained in all areas of the kitchen and line.
  16. Review work procedures and operational problems in order to determine ways to improve service, performance, and safety.
  17. Maintain a clean uniform and understands that he/she is always on stage.
  18. Ensure 100% compliance with all Garcia policies and laws, including health and safety standards.
  19. Timely completion of clocking in and out for meals and shifts.
  20. Adhere to Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager’s instructions and directions.
  21. Must sign and adhere to Garcia’s Confidentiality and Nondisclosure Agreement.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to follow instructions.
  2. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  3. Good communication skills.
  4. Ability to absorb and retain information quickly.
  5. Ability to memorize menu recipes to ensure speed and accuracy.
  6. Experience working in a team environment.
  7. Must have some knowledge of knife skills and good hand/eye coordination.
  8. Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
  9. Standing and walking during entire 8-hour shift.
  10. Lifts and carries supplies, cases up to 50 pounds.
  11. Reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, shakes, stirs, pours and carries.
  12. Beneficial to speak, read and write English
  13. Beneficial to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  14. Knowledge of sanitary regulations regarding the maintenance of stored products.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

  1. Must be 16 years of age.
  2. Reporting to work on time and regular attendance is mandatory.

 

Preferred:

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent
  2. Minimum of 2 years full service, high volume, family-dining restaurant experience.
  3. Bi-Lingual a plus.

 

Licensing Status:

  1. Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation, if required.
  2. Must successfully complete the NM Food Handlers course and/or the Serv Safe Certification course within 30 days of hire date, if required.
  3. Pre-employment and random drug screening, if required.
